Perhaps it's because men are much more down to earth when it comes to their wardrobes, or because they aren't so vain did I say that? In any case, clothing for men is a far simpler subject than clothing for women. Women get involved in tangential clothing issues that men just don't pay attention to, for the most part.
If you need convincing, just take a look at the closet space taken up by clothing for men as opposed to clothing for women. Even the best attired man's wardrobe consists of just a few staples. The average guy has a few belts, a selection of ties (maybe), a drawer of casual shirts that multipurpose, casual and dress pants, sweaters and shoes. The average guy has just one wallet. Clothing for men is a simple matter indeed, so much simpler than a woman's wardrobe.
Is the difference between clothing for men and women a case of vanity? Probably so. When it comes to clothes, men tend to be practical. They don't have to worry about 'accessories', jewelry - beyond a watch, handbags and matching shoes, glitzy clothes, stockings, and OMG, lingerie! Men, bless their hearts, generally get a third of the dresser drawers. Tube socks, the plain black dress sock and utilitarian underwear are all contained in a single drawer.
As for accessories in the clothing for men department, a warm wool scarf for winter wear, a few belts and a pair of leather gloves and well, that's about it. I daresay women wish they could get by on such a basic wardrobe.
Buying for the man who has everything is far different than buying for his female counterpart. Whereas a man might love a nice casual sweater, women tend to be nitpickers. Women have many more style, color and pattern requirements. Clothing for men is an easy pick. Choose something of good quality and he's as happy as a clam at high tide!
How about hats? Men don't usually go in for hats these days. Visit any department store's clothing for men section. You won't find a whole lot of hats. If you're a guy, thinking a hat gift will please your woman, don't even go there. Let her choose these items herself.
Women are in luck when it comes to choosing clothing for men. Men are straightforward and manly in their wardrobe choices. They're not fussy. Classy, quality clothing is a sure hit with a man. Women are not so easily pleased.
Women of the world, be glad when you're shopping for clothing for men! He's easily pleased, as we are not! All we need to do is search out clothing for men that's of fine quality and not too fussy. Hey, that's a piece of cake.
