If you are working on your family tree, or have done so in the past, you know that there are always going to be dead ends that frustrate you to no end. You may get very far back through your lineage, only to find that one person on your family tree can not be confirmed because you are coming up with no information, or perhaps conflicting information. You can exhaust all of the usually sources, but you may not have thought of one. They are not common in all families, but there are some family history books that can help. You can even write one of your own with what you have found about your family.

When I was doing my family tree, I was surprised to find there were some family history books that helped me out tremendously. One line of my family is the Quick family. This is apparently a very large family with a long history in the US and back through Europe. This one of the family history books I found to help me did lead me to a name that I did not have, though after that, I found I had hit another dead end. My relative was living with his aunt and uncle, but I could not find any mention of who his parents were or why his living arrangements were as such.

Another of the family history books that I found was one that my father had in his possession for his side of the family going back through his father and grandfather. This book was not as thorough as the one for the Quick family, but it helped tremendously. Unlike the Quick book, this was not a published book that was in the libraries. It was printed and bound, but only owned by a few people in our family. You may have one of these floating around your family and you dont know it just yet. Ask around.

Not everyone in every family is going to find that there are family history books out there that pertain to their family or even their part of the family tree. However, if you go back far enough, there can be common ancestors of which you have not found just yet. Some families have no family history books and that is because they are not as common as they could be. However, you can search through libraries to see what you can get to come up in your query.

If you find that you are having trouble finding family history books for your family, you may have to realize that there may not be one. That may make your endeavor a bit harder, but you can clear things up for generations to come. Once you have completed a good part of your family tree, you can make up your own family history books. Just be sure that you only include things that you have verified through records and research.
